Day 43 – ugh!

Got a new assignment from Intern Bill today: come up with as many different words as I can to describe the word “earmark”.  I can use the Internet or whatever.  I don’t even know what an “earmark” is.

Day 37 – everybody going crazy!

Intern Bill told us to hide today!  Said everything’s “coming to a head” (his words) on a bunch of things: the tax deal blowing up, the Wiki-leaks insanity, terrorist stuff, Michelle flipping out about the holiday tree not standing up straight (yes, true!) .. and on and on!  We’ve been told to keep deleting emails but not to leave our office.

I hear A-Rod yelling at someone now! Yikes! Over and out…

Day 35 – Obama mad!

Sorry gang – been unable to post these past few days.

Britney said the Prez is reeeeallly mad today.  Said she was in Intern Bill’s office and they heard his loud voice saying, “It’s not going to happen!” and  then a door slam.  No one’s really sure what’s going on, but we think it has something to do with the press conference he just gave about tax cuts and the Republicans. Yikes!

Day 14 – shredding day

Britney and I got a new assignment today: shredding!

This morning, Intern Bill came by with a pushcart with @ 15 boxes of documents on it and told us to get to it.  We’ve been at it since then and they keep bringing us more boxes! Ugh!

We’ve been given a short lunch break but then it’s back to more shredding!  What a great job!

Day 13 – Barry’s back!

The Prez is back today and in a bad mood.  Apparently the foreign trip didn’t go so well.  Michelle is on a rampage about something too.  I can hear her barking orders all the way down the hall.  From what I’ve heard, she and the Secret Service guys don’t get along too well.  Anyway “Bill” the senior intern stopped by and told us to keep our heads down and look busy (even though we don’t have anything to do).  So I guess I’ll just do the blog.  Good thing my computer screen doesn’t face the door!

Day 3 – 4:45pm

Nobody’s around so I poked my head into the Roosevelt Rm. Very nice! Couldn’t go in though because carpet cleaners were in there.  Apparently “Bo” the dog made a bit of a stain.

Bill stopped by and gave me my intern badge. I guess now I’m official!  Woo-hoo!  He also mentioned I’ll be getting an office-mate on Monday, another intern.  Hmmm…

See y’all Monday!

Day 1 – my first day!

Well, it’s my first day as a White House intern!  I’m sitting here in my tiny office now waiting for word on my first assignment.  They gave us all shiny new laptops so I thought I’d start a little blog about my experiences here.  I’m also getting a little bored.

In case you’re wondering, we (my fellow interns and I are) are part of a new group they just brought in.  Rumor has it they knew yesterday’s elections were gonna be a legislative bloodbath for the Democrats so they’re focusing on the executive and I guess they needed bodies.  I also keep hearing there’s some kind of “shake-up” going on around here.

So the day started out kind of interesting.  I had never been to the White House before.  They said it really wasn’t a good day to “orient” us as things were a little chaotic trying to get the President ready for his press conference and all.  But we were given kind of a mini-tour of the back offices in the West Wing.  After a quick pat-down by the Secret Service guys, we met our tour guide “Bill” who is one of the senior interns.  Bill walked us through the halls pointing out some of the various offices: the Personnel Office, the Political Affairs Office (which includes the Muslim Outreach suite), the National Security Advisor’s Office, the Arizona War Room (yes, they actually have that), the Office of Media Affairs (also known as the Fox News war room), the SEIU and Acorn suite of offices and the Move On office which they say Mr. Soros sometimes uses when he’s in town.  We passed by the Oval Office but it was locked.  I thought I heard Biden’s voice.

Anyway, can’t wait to find out what my assignment is!

PS. Haven’t seen “Barry” yet.  That’s what someone told me they call Obama around here, but not to his face.  🙂
