Day 10 – hungover (ugh!)

Got in kinda late today (feeling hung-over).  Britney and I went out for drinks yesterday after work.  (I had my own motives but got nothing, lol.)  Anyway, that on top of all the champagne I had at lunch really did me in.  But she can drink like a fish and it doesn’t seem to affect her one bit.  Southern chicks! Lol.

Anyway, she gave me the rundown on why we’ve all been hired. I don’t know how she knows stuff but up until last week she interned for this congressman (who shall remain unnamed) who lost.  I guess she overheard all these rumors.  According to her, since last week’s losses, Barry’s team has made the call to shift things back to the WH.  Everything’s gonna be run out of here now.  Also, there’s gonna be some big shake up and heads are gonna roll when he gets back.  So that’s why they wanted all these new bodies.  All hands on deck I guess. We’ll see…

So… heading out to lunch now to get my new watch… Tag or Rolex? Hmm…

Day 9 – while the cat’s away…

Yesterday I got three new suits, ties, shirts, a custom pair of Nike Skeets (sweet!) and  a bunch of other stuff with our clothing stipend money. Thinking about a new watch too but can’t decide if I want a Tag or a Rolex.. keep you posted on that.

Been like a party around here this week with Biden running the show.

Today for lunch there was a big spread for all us interns and other staffers in the Roosevelt Room: oysters, caviar, imported cheese, etc., even Champagne (but I don’t think we’re all of age to drink here – LOL!)  Even some of the Secret Service guys got in on the act.

I could’ve eaten the caviar all day (and practically did) but Britney doesn’t like it so she gave hers to “Bo” the Dog who lapped it right up. Hilarious!

Day 7 – more goodies!

We each got Blackberrys today.  Got a bunch of other goodies too including a 10K stipend for wardrobe enhancement! Sweet!  I guess we’re all part of that stimulus money.   Thanks taxpayers! Lol.

Just saw Joe Biden practicing his putting in the hallway.  What a hoot!

Day 1 – my first day!

Well, it’s my first day as a White House intern!  I’m sitting here in my tiny office now waiting for word on my first assignment.  They gave us all shiny new laptops so I thought I’d start a little blog about my experiences here.  I’m also getting a little bored.

In case you’re wondering, we (my fellow interns and I are) are part of a new group they just brought in.  Rumor has it they knew yesterday’s elections were gonna be a legislative bloodbath for the Democrats so they’re focusing on the executive and I guess they needed bodies.  I also keep hearing there’s some kind of “shake-up” going on around here.

So the day started out kind of interesting.  I had never been to the White House before.  They said it really wasn’t a good day to “orient” us as things were a little chaotic trying to get the President ready for his press conference and all.  But we were given kind of a mini-tour of the back offices in the West Wing.  After a quick pat-down by the Secret Service guys, we met our tour guide “Bill” who is one of the senior interns.  Bill walked us through the halls pointing out some of the various offices: the Personnel Office, the Political Affairs Office (which includes the Muslim Outreach suite), the National Security Advisor’s Office, the Arizona War Room (yes, they actually have that), the Office of Media Affairs (also known as the Fox News war room), the SEIU and Acorn suite of offices and the Move On office which they say Mr. Soros sometimes uses when he’s in town.  We passed by the Oval Office but it was locked.  I thought I heard Biden’s voice.

Anyway, can’t wait to find out what my assignment is!

PS. Haven’t seen “Barry” yet.  That’s what someone told me they call Obama around here, but not to his face.  🙂
