Well, it’s my first day as a White House intern! I’m sitting here in my tiny office now waiting for word on my first assignment. They gave us all shiny new laptops so I thought I’d start a little blog about my experiences here. I’m also getting a little bored.
In case you’re wondering, we (my fellow interns and I are) are part of a new group they just brought in. Rumor has it they knew yesterday’s elections were gonna be a legislative bloodbath for the Democrats so they’re focusing on the executive and I guess they needed bodies. I also keep hearing there’s some kind of “shake-up” going on around here.
So the day started out kind of interesting. I had never been to the White House before. They said it really wasn’t a good day to “orient” us as things were a little chaotic trying to get the President ready for his press conference and all. But we were given kind of a mini-tour of the back offices in the West Wing. After a quick pat-down by the Secret Service guys, we met our tour guide “Bill” who is one of the senior interns. Bill walked us through the halls pointing out some of the various offices: the Personnel Office, the Political Affairs Office (which includes the Muslim Outreach suite), the National Security Advisor’s Office, the Arizona War Room (yes, they actually have that), the Office of Media Affairs (also known as the Fox News war room), the SEIU and Acorn suite of offices and the Move On office which they say Mr. Soros sometimes uses when he’s in town. We passed by the Oval Office but it was locked. I thought I heard Biden’s voice.
Anyway, can’t wait to find out what my assignment is!
PS. Haven’t seen “Barry” yet. That’s what someone told me they call Obama around here, but not to his face. 🙂
